The Provincial General Assembly of the Lay Comboni Missionaries in the DRC

The Lay Comboni Missionaries met in Kimwenza- Kinshasa from 6th to 8th December 2019 for their second General Assembly. The aim of this assembly is to evaluate the pastoral activities of the movement and adopt the proposals of the General Assembly of Lay Comboni Missionaries, held last year in Rome in December 2018.

The plenary sessions were organized around the following themes: "Structure and Legal Recognition", "International Communities", "Comboni Family", "Comboni Charism", "Mission Ad Gentes and Inter Gentes", "Vocation Promotion", "Economic Autonomy", "Common Formation" and "Communication", which helped us to go to workshops to answer specific and practical questions. At the end of this assembly, a directory of the six-year pastoral plan will be drafted and proposed to all the communities of Lay Comboni Missionaries in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This general assembly was attended by 23 lay people from 5 communities. Those from the provinces were unable to make the trip but sent in their responses. The assembly closed with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Father Joseph Mumbere Musanga, outgoing provincial of the Comboni Missionaries in Congo.
